Hope in Chiapas
Here at AMS Pictures, we like to believe that those in positions of good fortune want to give back to communities in need. Although some may be able to give back more than others (shout-out to Brangelina!) every person can give something, whether it be money, services or the most valuable donation of all—time.
To encourage the fabulous pay-it-forward culture, we want to offer a slow clap (building up to deafening applause, naturally) for the young ladies at South Garland High School and their involvement with Chiapas International, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing micro-financing loans to women in Chiapas, Mexico. These types of loans offer indigent women around the world the help they need to permanently lift themselves and their families out of poverty.
Partnering with Insider Marketing, AMS Pictures developed an outreach video highlighting the amazing efforts of South Garland High students. The future philanthropists collaborated to create key chains, book covers, pillow covers, a quilt and other items using the fabric made by the women in Chiapas. The crafts were then auctioned off at the Chiapas International Gala, with the proceeds all returning right back to Chiapas.
The collaboration enabled the high-school kids (many from low-income households themselves) to make a lasting impact on the lives of others with their hard work and creativity. Watch the students discover the value of giving and the empowerment it brings through our video. Then just try not to feel inspired. We dare you…
