When kicking off their GEAR UP IV grant program, Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) turned to AMS Pictures – Public Interest to ensure that they got things started with a bang.

With a mission of preparing underserved students across South Texas to enter and succeed in postsecondary education, the TAMIU team brought nearly 10,000 8th-graders together at the Laredo Energy Arena for an engagement event to educate and excite the kids about their participation in the GEAR UP program.

And the AMS team was on hand to help bring the campaign to life—developing a comprehensive, innovative creative strategy for the Prep Rally that covered everything from visual elements to media creation to technical staging. AMS crews also documented every aspect of the event on site, later producing a series of video tools that the TAMIU team uses to engage and inform educators, students and GEAR UP program administrators across the country.

Response to all creative aspects of the event was overwhelmingly positive from participants and TAMIU alike, and the post-event videos AMS developed are still a key part of the GEAR UP team’s outreach methods today.
